Jennifer Foster of Marietta, Georgia, is seeking information about Georgia relatives of James and/or Audley Maxwell of Liberty County, Georgia. According to the Coweta County Chronicles, originally published in 1928, (James) Audley Maxwell represented the first General Assembly of the Province of Savannah in 1751. He and his sons were zealous supporters of the historic Midway organization. They are supposedly descendants of Lady Audley Maxwell of Dumfries, Scotland. There are so many Maxwells with the same first names from the St. Simon's and Savannah regions that she is having difficulty figuring out who is who.
She will appreciate any information on this Maxwell line, as she believes she is a 6th generation granddaughter of Audley Maxwell. According to her records, her g-g-g grandmother, Ann Wood, was a daughter of Elizabeth Sanderford and Major James Wood, granddaughter of James Maxwell of Liberty Co., and great-granddaughter of (James) Audley Maxwell. All of this information comes from the Coweta County Chronicles. (She assumes that Elizabeth Sanderford was a Maxwell but needs confirmation/clarification on that point.)
If you have information which would be helpful to Jennifer, please contact her by email: jenniferfoster@bellsouth.net
